Wonder Pen — 2. A Strange Parcel
Jim made a sudden move, reaching out to his cellphone. There pops up a text message:
“Check the book, Page 5 line 16, K.”
K. is Dr. Kativa. A 30-year-old teacher, By her self-intro at the first lesson, she just successfully applied working in UC Berkeley teaching Algorithm in 2019, the same year as freshman Jim. she is pretty, simple, easy going, gorges enough to attract any mature of the male. Sometimes students saw fresh flowers at her desk, Dr. Kativa just moves them aside a little bit, and started lesson, never put a second glance on it.
No one doubts Dr. Kativa is the smartest in the whole department, they just thinks she is weird.
Jim, however, doesn’t think so, Dr. Kativa has an ability to look through the world, she is just special, there is some kind of connection between both of them, like they’ve known each other before, just could not tell when.
“What book?” Jim thought.
“who is that?” he put on his hoody, opened the door.
A USPS yellow parcel lay at his feet. The deliver has gone.
He tore it off, falling down into his hand, was a bible book, a very common one, you could find this vegetable tanned leathered book at any bookstore.
He looked into the dark night, nothing, but some faint street lights hunched in the cold air.
Jim closed the door, sat at the fireplace and opened the Bible as message indicated. At Page 5 line 16, there reads:
“Altogether, Enoch lived a total of 365 years. Enoch walked faithfully with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.” — Genesis
Suddenly he recalled in his dream the woman’s last words:
“Go find Enoch, my child, Go.”
Fireplace burnt out the last log, flashed occasional sparks in the hot and thick ashtray. Outside, it starts snowing.
